The NHS in east Kent have launched a new app to help you find the best care if you have a minor injury. Don’t head straight to A&E! Download the WaitLess app and see if you can get faster treatment at a minor injuries unit.
WaitLess is a smartphone app that has been designed to help you to get the right treatment – fast.
WaitLess uses real-time updates and geo-location technology, to give you current waiting times at all of our A&E and minor injuries units in east Kent – drawn from the official NHS system.
This information is combined with up-to-the-minute travel time information, giving a ranking of the best places to aim for if you have a minor injury.
Currently the app provides waiting times at:
- William Harvey Hospital, Ashford
- Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate
- Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury
- Buckland Hospital, Dover
- Faversham Medical Practice MIU
- Estuary View, Whitstable
- Royal Victoria Hospital, Folkestone
- Victoria Hospital, Deal.
We hope to be able to extend the service to other areas soon.
This is the first app of this kind in the UK – other apps use waiting time information but this is the first to combine with travel times, which we know can be unpredictable in Kent!
So if you’ve got a minor injury, don’t just head to the nearest A&E. Check the app first and WaitLess!
The WaitLess app has been developed by Transforming Systems and is free to download.

Remember whatever the circumstances, choose the right care
Hi I have been having steroid injections in my foot to reduce pain , my doctors surgery has no appointments until September and I am in pain is there anywhere I can go as I am in pain.
Kind regards
The Wait Less app and website is for emergency treatment. You normally can’t receive treatment elsewhere without a referral from your GP. It is unusual that a GP has no appointments for over a month. We suggest you try your GP again.
Most practices now operate a telephone consultation system so if you can’t get a routine appointment, you can ask for a doctor to ring you.
Alternatively, ask for an urgent appointment. This may mean that you will have to visit the surgery at the time given but may have to wait in queue to see a doctor.
