New Chair for forum

Following the retirement of Allen Wells, Bob Shrubb has succeeded him as Chair of South Ashford Community Forum.  South Ashford Community Forum (SACF) was set up in 2002 and serves those parts of South Ashford not represented by Parish Councils, as shown on the map on our ‘About Us’ page. Its objective is to represent the views of people living and working in the Area and to help communicate those views to Ashford Borough Council, Kent County Council and other statutory organisations.  Bob is keen to see that objective met and, to that end, plans to improve communication with the people it represents. He has started implementation of this plan by building this website and creating a Facebook page for the Forum.  The Forum is currently preparing a petition requesting that Ashford Borough Council undertake a Community Governance Review for the non-parished urban areas of Ashford. This could result in the area served by the Forum, and those served by other Community Forums, having their own Community Councils that would have similar powers to those of Parish Councils. Although he has retired as Chair of the Forum, Allen Wells will continue to lead the preparation of the Petition in South Ashford.  SACF’s next meeting will be held on 21st January 2015 at 7:00 pm (for a 7:15 start) at South Ashford Baptist Church in Brookfield Road. All who live or work in the Community Forum area are invited to attend the meeting.  SACF would like to offer their thanks to Allen Wells for the service he has provided as Chair of the Forum
