Valuing People Now in Kent: The Voice of People with a Learning Disability and their Families/Carers
Kent County Council
Opens: 8 Nov 2016 at 11:00
Closes: 7 Dec 2017 at 23:59
Kent County Council (KCC) is seeking views on what people want from a new service (outcomes) for people with a learning disability and their families and carers.
The new service will support people with learning disabilities to make sure that their voices are heard and that their views are represented on issues that are important to them.
KCC have based the outcomes below on the things that people with a learning disability have told them are important to them during other consultations.
These outcomes are that people with a learning disability, their family and carers:
- are free to take part in shaping the local and national plans which affect them
- know that their opinion and involvement is listened to and valued
- know that their opinions are told to those who make decisions about local and national plans/services
- are able to take part regardless of where they are. (This could be in the community, living at home, attending day centres, in residential care homes or supported living.)
KCC would like to hear what people with a learning disability, their families/carers, organisations that support people with a learning disability and other key stakeholders think about these outcomes and your feedback and ideas will inform what the outcomes for the future will look like. A questionnaire and an easy read questionnaire are available in the ‘Consultation Documents’ section below.
Please submit your response by Wednesday 7 December 2016.
