We will all be getting the bill for Council Tax within the next day or two.
We tell you how much more you will be paying this year and where your money goes.
The table below shows the increase in the precept charged by each authority and the the total for a Band D property.
As in previous years Kent County Council has been allowed to add an additional sum off 2% of their precept for Adult Social Care.
The next table shows how this affects the annual and monthly payments for all properties.
Note: Ashford Borough Council normally debits one payment of an odd amount then nine rounded payments. The table shows the average.
We exclusively show how much you pay for the services of all of the precepting authorities.

I am making a query regarding my council tax band , identical houses in my area are band C we are the only ones with band D why is this and why are we paying more than everyone else.
Alison
If you are sure that a number of other identical houses are at a lower band you may wish to consider requesting a reassessment. Do be aware that if the Valuation Office Agency decide that your band is correct and your neighbours’ wrong, they would have their council tax increased, but if they decide yours is too high you may be able to claim some of the excess that you have paid.
Martin Lewis and the editorial team on the Money Saving Expert website have produced some advice on Council Tax Bands https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/council-tax-bands-change/ that includes details on checks you can make and requesting a reassessment. We strongly recommend that you do the checks suggested before challenging your band.
If you decide to challenge there is more information here: https://www.gov.uk/challenge-council-tax-band.
